The Makau system at MHPCC DSRC is back online and available for pioneer utilization.

Please note that all users will need to completely restore their data and application files, as the filesystem was wiped and rebuilt.

Please be cautious when downloading and running new, untested open source applications. We suggest vetting or scanning them first, as running un-vetted code can contain supply chain introduction of malicious code which may disrupt system operations.

Dear MHPCC User:

The Maui High Performance Computing Center Defense Supercomputing Resource Center (MHPCC DSRC) may experience service outages due to severe weather in the region, expected from Thursday, 12 March through Saturday, 14 March 2026. Predictions are for high winds and heavy rains, which may impact MHPCC DSRC operations due to power, wind, flooding or communication issues.

Precautionary measures include minimizing system loads or shutdown of HPC systems. Arcturus will likely be idled or shut down. Makau, Crux and Lava may be running reduced workload (limited jobs) until the storm passes. All other systems and services should remain operational (on backup power if necessary). We expect normal operations to resume on Monday, 16 March 2026.

We request you to plan your workflows accordingly, and we apologize for any inconvenience caused by this potential weather event.
